Overview

Overview
Designed for a vibrant household with teenage and young adult children, this kitchen was part of a wider home extension aimed at improving flow, storage, and functionality. The brief was to create a space that balances timeless design with modern convenience — something elegant yet practical for daily use. Every element of the kitchen was considered in relation to the family’s lifestyle. The cabinetry is in a classic in-frame shaker style, hand-painted in Farrow & Ball Skimming Stone, with a smooth, brush-applied finish. Oak drawer boxes, bronze hardware, and a smoky grey internal carcass provide a refined, layered palette. LED lighting was integrated across key touchpoints — including the breakfast cupboard, pantry, glazed display units, and bar wall — to enhance usability and atmosphere.

The completed space is as hardworking as it is visually calm. The oven wall houses four integrated Miele appliances, including a steam oven and warming drawer, all seamlessly built into full-height cabinetry. The sink run was deepened to provide additional prep space, with twin dishwashers and a concealed bin system flanking the sink for daily efficiency. Opposite, the hob wall includes a wide induction hob with four pan drawers and a hidden pantry — lit by motion sensor LEDs — while new upper cabinetry offers shallow storage and a custom canopy hood. The breakfast wall features a recessed bi-fold cabinet concealing a fridge, worktop and shelving, flanked by floor-to-ceiling units. A standout feature is the bespoke bar, designed with an antique mirrored back, oak shelving, integrated sink, wine cooler, and drawers adapted for bottle storage. The glazed top units with solid oak shelving add a final layer of craft. Centrally, a clean-lined island replaces a dining table, offering a large worktop, three-sided seating, and concealed cabinetry — becoming the anchor for this warm, welcoming family kitchen.
